About Us

The National Space Centre, an education charity, opened in 2001, is the largest visitor attraction dedicated to space and space exploration. It has become firmly established as one of the East Midlands' unique, premier events venue.

Our mission is to get people excited about space and help develop the next generation of scientists and engineers. However, we are not only a visitor attraction. The National Space Centre has education as one of its core elements. This is at the centre of everything we do, but as a not-for-profit charity in receipt of no funding, Venue Hire plays a key role in supporting our charitable objectives. 

National Space Cenre Planetarium

Making the most of the spectacular content and the state-of-the-art building, including the UK’s largest planetarium, the centre offers a wide range of dynamic venue space for conferences, meetings, team building, weddings, Christmas parties and private functions. The centre has hosted an amazing variety of events, including visits from legendary astronauts such as Tim Peake, Buzz Aldrin, Chris Hadfield Helen Sharman and Piers Sellers. It continues to evolve through the development of new galleries, Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium shows and experiences.
